An Evening Of Solidarity With The Concealed Eritrean Artist Idriss Mohammed Ali In Cairo, Egypt.

The Eritrean,  May 24 youth movement , a human right movement, held an evening of solidarity with the Eritrean patriotic artist Idriss Mohamed Ali on the 10th  anniversary of his detention by the Eritrean authorities. The evening was held on December 25, 2015 in the Egyptian capital Cairo under the slogan, “string and tongue behind bars”, in the presence of a group of individuals of  the Eritrean community in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

It was opened by the speech of the chairman of the organizing committee Mr. Hamid Al-ajeb who stressed in his speech, the solidarity of the May 24 movement as an Eritrean human right movement, with the grand national artist Idriss Mohammed Ali and the rest of the prisoners of conscience in Eritrea .  Mr. ajab added the artist Mohammed Ali is one of the prominent Eritrean artists who struggled with his art and himself, for the freedom and independence of the Eritrean people throughout thirty years of armed struggle. He further added, artist Idriss has dedicated  his career for the meaning of national unity and the rejection of sectarian and tribal discrimination among the Eritrean people and he was truly a model for the national and sincere artist of his people and  to his country.

Also spoke in the anniversary Mr. Mohammed-Nur Shamsee head of the media committee in the movement where he addressed the presents the inception and the artistic career of the great artist Idriss Mohamed Ali. Mr Shamsee sung some of the songs and poems of the artist Mohamed Ali which raised  the enthusiasm of the attendants and their interaction with those songs.

The head of the communication committee in the May 24 movement,  Mr. Hatem Ibrahim gave some verses of poetry in loyalty and appreciation of the artist for his sacrifices through his art and his revolutionary songs, in the cause of the struggles of the Eritrean people for freedom and independence.

Mr. Saleh Omer head of the mobilization committee in  May 24 movement, said the artist Idriss Mo/Ali has exterminated more than 30 years of his age for the sake of Eritrea’s independence and establishment of the state of law and justice thus he is paying the price dearly because he called for the realization of these objectives which he struggled for. Mr. Omer added the concealed artist Idriss deserves solidarity and awakening the global conscience to his fair case and also to the right issue of the forgotten prisoners of conscience in Eritrea who are suffering in the secret detention centers of the ruling regime in Eritrea, nothing guilty for, except calling for freedom and justice in their country.

The evening was permeated by breaks of the artist’s songs where the audience has interacted with a mixture of joy and sadness. Joy for his enthusiastic and  beautiful songs and   sadness for his detention and absence. Also presented in the anniversary, veteran revolutionaries, like Eng. Ibrahim Muhajeb and Mr. Ibrahim Kabushy who expressed their happiness to attend the occasion and seeing young and intellectual Eritreans who carry out such important national activities  and  highlight the suffering of the Eritrean people at home, especially the prisoners of conscience like the grand national artist Idriss Mohamed Ali and others.

At the end of the evening of solidarity, the attendants put paste on their mouths to express their solidarity with the artist Idriss Mohamed Ali and the rest of the Eritrean prisoners of conscience and their families.

It is to be recalled that the artist Idriss Mohammed Ali has been detained by the Eritrean authorities in the end of 2005 with 80 other people and nothing is known yet about his whereabouts and his health condition.
